Same Day Mammography Results

Patients who have a mammogram at Ashley Regional receive amazing customer service, the best in digital mammography, and results before they leave the facility.

Waiting Area

After a patient has a mammogram, they will be invited to sit in our new Mammogram Waiting Room, where they can relax, help themselves to refreshments, listen to quiet music, read or just relax.  The radiologist will read the mammogram while they wait. If the mammogram is normal, the technologist will let the patient know and explain about our referral program for the next year. If the mammogram is abnormal, the radiologist will come to the waiting room and open the images of the mammogram on a computer screen located in the waiting room and explain why additional imaging studies are required.

Meet our Breast Health Navigator

The radiology department is also joined by Emee Pummel, R.N., Certified Breast Health Navigator. Emme will meet with patients and talk about their mammogram. She will be available to patients who are diagnosed with breast cancer to assist them in the steps they need to take. She will make appointments, explain options and procedures, and walk the patient through the treatment process.

The American Cancer Society's estimates for breast cancer in the United States for 2014 are:

  • About 232,670 new cases of invasive breast cancer will be diagnosed in women.
  • About 62,570 new cases of carcinoma in situ (CIS) will be diagnosed (CIS is non-invasive and is the earliest form of breast cancer).
  • About 40,000 women will die from breast cancer.

Death rates from breast cancer have been decreasing since 1989, due in part to the digital screening now available. If you are a woman, make a plan to get a mammogram at Ashley Regional. You can know your results could save your life.
