A Normal Night Turns into a Trauma | Janessa & Chris’s Story
October 09, 2025
On a normal Friday night, Chris and Janessa arrived home after dinner. Chris headed out to the back property and started working on a pipe fence. He was using a grinder when it bounced back, grabbed his shirt and inserted into his shoulder.
Janessa was inside. Their dogs alerted her to her husband’s accident – he was yelling for help. She said, “he was yelling for help, thank heavens my little inside dogs alerted me cause I didn’t hear him.”
She drove as quickly as possible to the freestanding ER in Vernal since they didn’t know if it hit an artery and it was badly bleeding. Chris was a trauma one. Janessa didn’t realize they don’t have surgeons there; however, the team stabilized Chris and took him by ambulance to Ashley Regional Medical Center since he had a cut to the artery.
“I have no doubt our Heavenly Father and our guardian angels were watching out for him and us. Ashley Regional was phenomenal and took such great care of us,” expressed Janessa.
During those few terrifying hours, Janessa wasn’t sure if Chris was going to make it. A couple special nurses at Ashley Regional reassured her they’d take good care of Chris. Lori and Megan provided amazing care through this awful incident.
Chris is now doing well. Janessa and Chris are all grateful for the Ashley Regional trauma team, and the great care they received.
