Ashley Regional Medical Center Names 2022 Mercy Award Winner
May 18, 2022
VERNAL, UT (March 19, 2022) – Ashley Regional Medical Center recently announced that surgery/PACU nurse Megan Carroll has been recognized as the facility’s 2022 Mercy Award winner. The Mercy Award recognizes one employee from each of LifePoint Health’s facilities who profoundly touches the lives of others and best represents the spirit and values on which the company was founded.
The Mercy Award is an annual recognition program established in 2002 to honor the life and contributions of Scott Mercy, LifePoint’s founding chairman and chief executive officer. The award is considered the highest honor a LifePoint employee can receive.
“At Ashley Regional, we share LifePoint’s commitment to making communities healthier, and we recognize this is supported by the good work and service of our employees on and off the job,” said Wes Taylor, CEO of Ashley Regional Medical Center. “We are extremely proud to recognize Megan for her efforts on behalf of our patients and our community. She goes above and beyond each and every day to ensure that every person she encounters receives the highest level of care and compassion.”
Megan personifies what it means to be named a Mercy Award winner. She is dedicated to her patients and community.
High-quality patient care is Megan’s first priority - always. She is known to hold her co-workers to a high standard, but she expects even more from herself. She will advocate for patients to ensure they receive the best care and experience possible. Even in times when she is on-call and tired, she is known to provide the compassionate type of care you would give to a beloved family member or friend, all with a smile.
Her compassionate care extends not just to her patients, but she goes above and beyond for her co-workers too. She is enthusiastically willing to pitch in to help in any way she can, whether it is an education project or anything else. She has been the driving force behind utilizing LPNs in the surgery department. Megan is an outstanding leader. Her efforts have led to a successful outcome with two new nurses ready to graduate and excited about a career in surgery/PACU.
Megan’s seemingly endless energy also gets put to use annually with Hotel Vernal Haunt. She has been an integral part of this huge event for several years, spending countless hours to make it a fun community event that benefits local charities. In 2021, the Haunt brought in over 6,000 community members and $68,000 that was donated to local charities.
Each facility winner, including Megan, will be considered for LifePoint’s 2022 companywide Mercy Award. The company-wide winner will be announced this summer and honored during a ceremony in Nashville, Tenn., in August, to which Megan and all facility winners are invited to attend.
